Description
An absolutely exquisite rolling pin made from a block of pomelle sapele that was carefully chosen and used to its full extent. The tree had probably fallen on its own and it took some time for the sawyers to find it. That gave the time to some bugs to carve a few holes, all which were perfectly sealed with a food safe epoxy. Fear not, the bugs are long gone and the wood has been sterilized during the kiln drying process. The original piece of wood that we purchased has produced three such rolling pins, one of which is for sale here. Closeups are provided so you can assess the beauty in detail.
Until three of them were made here, we were not aware of any other rolling pin made of such a select piece of wood. The cost of the original wood combined with the production risks generally make such a piece cost prohibitive. This is your chance to own such a piece at a price that we find is justified by the investments and the risks taken to arrive at the end product.

These rolling pins are perfect to roll out your favorite cookie dough. The finish applied is a mixture of organic beeswax and food grade mineral oil. We do not use vegetable based oils (such as olive oil, grapeseed oil, soybean oil, canola oil, etc.) because vegetable oils go rancid in time and once that happens to your rolling pin, there is no fixing it.
Keep in mind that rolling pins are not dishwasher safe. They can be wiped with a wet rag, or hand washed, then wiped and allowed to dry before storage. Occasional coating with a rolling pin conditioner is a good idea. With every order, we include a small container of the same finish mixture that we use during the production process, which should last you several years.
Our goal is to make rolling pins that you would find pleasant to use all year round while you bake for your family, for your friends, and for yourself. It certainly has been a joy for us and our friends who have received rolling pins that we make. And we make those rolling pins right here in the USA.
