Curly Maple Mattarello

Description

This is one awesome (if I may say so) mattarello perfect for rolling out pasta just like pasta was meant to be rolled. Use this mattarello while you cook Italian food, and it will feel almost as good as taking a trip to the Italian countryside. And speaking of the Italian countryside, all the models are named after some lovely Italian villages or small towns. There is one exception where the standard tried and true minimalist round model is named after the one and only: Rome.

This curly maple mattarello is made just for you using carefully selected wood from the local lumber yard. It is 36″ long, and it features the classic mattarello neck. You can select any which model you desire. Material:

Curly maple is a grain variation on the common maple. While a mattarello from curly maple will feel just like one from plain maple, the wow factor makes it stand out. There is quite a bit of variation in the striping from one board to another, and we make sure that nice pieces of wood are used to produce mattarellos.

These mattarellos are perfect to roll out your favorite pasta. The finish applied is a mixture of organic beeswax and food grade mineral oil. We do not use vegetable based oils (such as olive oil, grapeseed oil, soybean oil, canola oil, etc.) because vegetable oils go rancid in time and once that happens to your mattarello, there is no fixing it.

Keep in mind that mattarellos are not dishwasher safe. They can be wiped with a wet rag, or hand washed, then wiped and allowed to dry before storage. Occasional coating with a rolling pin conditioner is a good idea. With every order, we include a small container of the same finish mixture that we use during the production process, which should last you several years.

Our goal is to make rolling pins  and mattarellos that you would find pleasant to use all year round while you cook for your family, for your friends, and for yourself.  It certainly has been a joy for us and our friends who have received mattarellos that we make.
