Bubinga Ballsy Pie Crust Slim Rolling Pin

Description

Pie crusts are best a bit thinner in the middle and thicker at the edges. You can get that with a rolling pin that has an arch along the body. This is a pin just like that, but we went a little over the top. The balls at the ends add an anchor point and makes the experience more pleasant. You can use this pin after you’ve already flattened the pie dough for the finishing touch. The selected size is slim, feels right in hand, and is an absolute joy to use. Bubinga is a really nice looking wood from Africa, feels glassy to the touch when properly finished, and feels quite hefty in the hand while working. If you have some firm dough to roll, a rolling pin with some weight helps, and bubinga makes that happen.

Our stock comes from a local lumber yard and the billets are carefully picked to be free of defects. Once the wood is turned on the lathe, it is further inspected for flaws. If everything looks right, sanding and polishing with a beeswax finish makes them almost ready for sale. Our logo and the USA stamp are added to the ends, and it’s ready to go.

These rolling pins are perfect to roll out your favorite cookie dough. The finish applied is a mixture of organic beeswax and food grade mineral oil. We do not use vegetable based oils (such as olive oil, grapeseed oil, soybean oil, canola oil, etc.) because vegetable oils go rancid in time and once that happens to your rolling pin, there is no fixing it.

Keep in mind that rolling pins are not dishwasher safe. They can be wiped with a wet rag, or hand washed, then wiped and allowed to dry before storage. Occasional coating with a rolling pin conditioner is a good idea. With every order, we include a small container of the same finish mixture that we use during the production process, which should last you several years.
